Here’s the Problem No One Talks About

The truth is, the tallow skincare world is full of half-truths and shortcuts. Just because it says “grass-fed” and comes in a brown jar doesn’t mean it’s safe, effective, or even what it claims to be.

• Is it really grass-fed? Over 85% of “grass-fed beef” sold in the U.S. is imported. Brands are legally allowed to slap “Product of the USA” on the label even if the beef came from Argentina or Australia, as long as it was bottled here.
• Was it grass-finished? Probably not. That label doesn’t mean what you think it does. Most brands never saw the cattle, let alone raised them.
• Was it pure suet or kitchen trim fat? Big difference. Suet is the clean, nutrient-rich fat surrounding the kidneys—perfect for skincare. Trim fat includes red meat, gristle, and connective tissue not meant for your face.
• Was it tested for shelf safety? Almost never. Most DIY brands have no idea what water activity is—and that’s dangerous. See why this matters.
